To use the Medline BP Unit Handheld Aneroid Cuff, Adult, first wrap the cuff snugly around the upper arm, aligning it with the brachial artery. Inflate the cuff by squeezing the bulb until the gauge reads about 20-30 mmHg above the expected systolic pressure. Slowly release the valve to deflate it while listening with a stethoscope placed over the artery. Note the pressure at which you first hear the heartbeat (systolic) and when it disappears (diastolic).
