A volar splint is applied to the palm side (anterior aspect) of the forearm, wrist, or hand, providing support and immobilization for injuries such as fractures or soft tissue damage on the anterior side. In contrast, a dorsal splint is placed on the back side (posterior aspect) of these areas, often used to stabilize and protect injuries while allowing some degree of movement on the palmar side.
